lake monroe.

i'm taking a break from facebook for a few weeks. it's been amazing so far! instead of spending time replying to countless notifications, i've had more time to spend praying for many of my friends & writing them handwritten notes. i do love facebook for so many reasons but this break has been incredibly life giving. i'm also getting my diy side back in gear:) i'll be writing the {be thrifty} column for delight&be a few times a month and i hope to post a few more projects on this blog as well:)

for now, here are some pictures from a recent lake trip!

emily >> michael w. smith

as i was scouring through vinyls at goodwill today, i came across an old michael w. smith album. i'm not a huge fan by any means but one of the songs caught my eye-- entitled "Emily". haha so i thought, "eh, why not?" and bought it just because i was curious.

when i got home and played it, i looked up the lyrics and couldn't help but laugh! i'm sure he wrote it as an encouraging, motivational song for some girl in his life named Emily... but it was not what i was expecting it to be about! anyway! it's circa 1990's (when i was born) if that takes you back at all:)

take a listen >>>

Caught, in an endless time
Waiting for a sign
To show you where to go
Lost, in a silent stare
Looking anywhere
For answers you don't know
Chorus:
On the wire
Balancing your dreams
Hoping ends will meet their means
You feel alone
Uninspired
Well does it help you to
Know that I believe in you
You're an angel waiting for wings...Emily

You, going through this stage
It's a restless age
Young and insecure
Sill, there are doubts to fade
Moments to be made
And one of them is yours

Chorus

On the wire
Balancing your dreams
Hoping ends will meet their means
But you feel alone
Uninspired
Oh does it help you to
Know that I believe in you
You're an angel waiting for wings
Oh, you're an angel waiting for wings...Emily

seattle | part four

tuesday morning we were up bright and early... leaving a thank you note, treat & flowers from the market for our hosts.
the heavens had opened up overnight and everything was vibrant & fresh under the layer of rain. we snapped a few images in the alley by their house before heading to Walmart to buy a duffle bag for Alora. Seattle was exploding with spring and i loved noticing the unsual trees, bushes & flowers as we drove along! after scouring UrbanSpoon the night before for local cafes in between us and the airport, we had chosen Cafe Cesura in Bellview. Bellview turned out to be a super urban/up&coming neighborhood and this coffee shop fit right in. their fresh waffles, pastries & banana bread were the perfect choices to satisfy our hunger and we all agreed that their coffee was superb!
before we knew it, it was time to head to the airport! so we returned the rental car, loaded ourselves down with luggage & caught the shuttle.
after checking in & making it through security, we had just a few moments together before we scattered to our gates. so we hugged, prayed, hugged lots more and departed with promises to travel together again!
another adventure come to a close. loads of memories created that will last a lifetime!
these girls are so precious to me!
Alora was setting up her camera to get a self-timer shot of all of us when she lost her balance and rolled backwards down the hill! We were all laughing so hard and Ashlynne helped her up while I took pictures:) haha
'til next time Seattle!
flew over Mt. St. Helens!
